weallreuse combines swapping and donating with auctions and fixed price sales to help you recycle and reuse, and make a litte cash too.

Re-use and repair of goods is becoming increasingly important as the amount of waste we create continues to grow.

The average Londoner throws away a tonne of rubbish every year, and our recycling rates are still below 20%

We hope that weallreuse will help to reduce the amount of waste that councils have to collect, and discourage the purchase of new goods as a first resort. Since items can be kept in situ until a new home is found, less transport is needed, and cash time and most importantly CO2 emissions can be saved. We ask our users to estimate the weight of their items, by doing this, we can keep track of how much we've saved from the tip!

Searching for items by postcode, and selecting where you would like to trade are useful features that help people find the items closest to them.

We believe our business model will open up re-use and recycling to a wider audience. By offering free basic listings we hope that more people will be inclined to use this service, and they will also be encouraged to post items that may have no commercial value for them, but could be extremely useful for someone else. Making it cheap to sell new and recycled goods for sale will also encourage traders to list more items, and possibly to swap them for other items too.

weallreuse also allows individuals, commercial and non-profit traders alike to trade on a level footing with larger or more established organisations, and to control the terms under which they trade on an item by item basis. They can create, edit and update their own content without having to rely on expensive outside resources. Private listings can be created, that are not seen by the public. In this way, new trading partnerships can be set up quickly and cheaply.

We believe that these community trades will help provide low cost goods to those who need them most, create jobs and ultimately generate income for the traders and for weallreuse. You may also be interested to see our reuse news, links and designer showcases at www.weallreuse.com

The project was founded by Lucy Wills, artist, new business consultant and activist, as a response to the lack of awareness and facilites for reuse. Though a private company limited by guarantee, our project is governed by a panel of advisors selected for their expertise and enthusiasm. We plan to select a further member in ther near future by ballot of junkfox users.

Between 2000 and 2002 we built and ran on the first version of this project, which proved the concept, but was too expensive to run. Since then we have been building support for the project and conducting ongoing research. Please contact us for a copy of our report on Recycling in Camden.

The need for the project is a great now as ever, and now the software is cheaper to run, we're back. This is very much a working draft, and we invite you to try out the system, and let us know what you think. We welcome your comments, feedback, and suggestions, and would also appreciate if you could let others know about this project.

This site is hosted and has been developed by globefox®. It uses many features of PHPProbid This version, 1.0 was completed on Valentines Day 2006 and moved to it's current server in November 2007.
